The CBI took Sandeep Choudhary into custody after registering a case against him on August 18 based on a formal complaint detailing the alleged demand for gratification. Choudhary, who holds the position of Deputy Controller of Accounts in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is accused of seeking ₹15 lakh to facilitate the timely renewal of a contract.
The anti-corruption agency's action comes as part of its ongoing efforts to tackle graft within government ministries and departments. The case was registered following an official complaint that outlined the circumstances under which the alleged demand was made.
The arrest marks another instance of corruption allegations surfacing within central government offices. Choudhary's role in financial administration at the I&B Ministry means his alleged conduct raises concerns about the integrity of procurement and contract management processes.
