The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has dismantled a banking recruitment fraud scheme, taking into custody four individuals accused of orchestrating the illegal operation. The case was registered following a formal complaint lodged by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), the autonomous body responsible for conducting recruitment examinations for banking sector positions across India.
Following the complaint, CBI teams conducted simultaneous searches at multiple locations linked to the accused. These operations resulted in the arrest of all four suspects involved in the racket, which investigators believe was designed to circumvent the official recruitment process for banking positions.
The exact nature of the fraudulent scheme and the scale of operations are yet to be disclosed officially. However, such rackets typically involve impersonation during examinations, question paper leaks, or facilitating candidates to secure positions through illegal means, undermining the merit-based selection process.
The IBPS conducts recruitment examinations for various positions across nationalised banks and other financial institutions. The arrest follows heightened scrutiny of recruitment processes in the banking sector, with authorities stepping up vigilance against organised fraud networks targeting competitive banking examinations.
