The Central Bureau of Investigation has successfully extradited Sourabh Chandrakar from Oman in connection with the massive Mahadev betting app fraud case, officials confirmed on Sunday. A CBI team that was deployed to Muscat escorted Chandrakar back to India, where he will be produced before the special court in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on Monday to face charges.
Chandrakar was apprehended by the Royal Oman Police based on a Red Corner Notice issued against him by the CBI. The extradition followed formal requests submitted by both the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate to the Sultanate of Oman, accompanied by comprehensive evidence documents supporting the case against the accused.
According to CBI officials, Chandrakar is currently facing charges in two separate CBI cases and one ED case, with chargesheets already filed in all three matters. The Mahadev online betting application is alleged to have defrauded investors of approximately ₹6,000 crore. The extradition was executed through close coordination between multiple Indian government agencies and Interpol's national central bureau, underscoring the coordinated international effort to apprehend economic offenders fleeing the country.
