CBSE collected over ₹16 crore from post-result student services

The Central Board of Secondary Education collected ₹16.47 crore from students during post-Class 12 result procedures, according to information disclosed through Right to Information requests. The board's revenue streams included ₹11.37 crore from scanned copy requests and ₹5.10 crore from verification and reevaluation services, both figures marked as unaudited in the official response.

Scanned copy requests, which allow students to obtain digitised versions of their answer sheets, emerged as the primary revenue generator for the national examination body. The remaining collections stemmed from students seeking verification of their marks or opting for answer sheet reevaluations, processes that typically follow the announcement of annual board examination results.

The disclosure raises questions about the scale of post-result services availed by Class 12 candidates across India's schools affiliated with the CBSE. These services represent a significant income source for the examination body beyond its core assessment functions.

The unaudited status of the figures suggests the data may be subject to further review and reconciliation in formal financial records. The CBSE had not previously disclosed detailed breakdowns of revenue from these academic services in public communications.
