CBSE delays board exam timetable as deadline confusion mounts
The Central Board of Secondary Education has yet to release the examination schedule for Classes 10 and 12 in 2027, despite the deadline for submitting candidate lists having passed. The delay has left students, parents and schools awaiting clarity on exam dates.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is facing mounting criticism over its delayed release of the board examination timetable for 2027, marking a significant departure from its previous scheduling practices. The deadline for schools to submit the List of Candidates (LOC) for Classes 10 and 12 has already elapsed, yet the board has not published the tentative examination schedule.
The delay has created considerable uncertainty among stakeholders. Last year, CBSE released its provisional timetable in September, allowing students and institutions adequate time to prepare. This year's postponement has left students, parents and school administrators scrambling to plan their academic calendars and revision strategies without confirmed examination dates.
Schools have expressed concern over the lack of communication from the board. With the candidate lists already submitted, institutions typically expect the examination schedule shortly thereafter, enabling them to coordinate with students and plan their academic year accordingly. The uncertainty also impacts students' preparation timelines, particularly for competitive entrance examinations scheduled later in the year.
The CBSE has not issued any official statement explaining the reasons for the delay or providing a revised timeline for the release of the examination schedule. Education stakeholders have called for swift clarification from the board to alleviate the ongoing confusion and allow all parties to make necessary arrangements.
