President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has issued a formal declaration designating the Central Criminal Investigation Bureau (CCIB) as a place of detention under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), according to an Extraordinary Gazette notification released by the President's office.

The CCIB, which operates from the Labour Secretariat building in Colombo 05, is now officially recognised as a detention facility under the anti-terrorism legislation. The designation enables the facility to be utilised for holding individuals detained under PTA provisions.

The move comes as part of ongoing security and law enforcement operations in the country. The formal designation through Gazette notification underscores the legal framework governing the use of the facility for terrorism-related detention matters.

The CCIB remains a key investigative body under Sri Lanka's law enforcement apparatus, and the new designation aligns operational procedures with statutory requirements under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
