The Department of Agriculture Region VII (DA-7) achieved substantial improvements in its digital connectivity after being linked to the government's dedicated network infrastructure in Cebu City. The Department of Information and Communications Technology Region VII (DICT-7) officially launched the Government Network (GovNet) connection at the DA-7 compound on Monday, Sept. 14.
The new connection delivers download speeds of 823.26 megabits per second, a significant upgrade from previous connectivity levels. The GovNet initiative aims to strengthen the digital infrastructure of government agencies across the region, enabling faster and more reliable data transmission for administrative operations.
The DA-7, which oversees agricultural programs and services across Central Visayas, stands to benefit from enhanced capabilities for managing agricultural data, facilitating inter-agency communication, and improving service delivery to stakeholders in the region. The improved connectivity supports the agency's efforts to modernize operations and enhance responsiveness to farmer concerns and industry needs.
The GovNet rollout represents part of broader efforts by the national government to modernize digital infrastructure across government offices, ensuring agencies can operate more efficiently and respond more effectively to public service demands.
