CEBU CITY — A grandmother and her two grandchildren died when a landslide destroyed their house in Barangay Pulangbato here on Friday, October 9.

The incident occurred shortly after noon when the family was having lunch at their residence in Sitio Kandarong Riverside. The sudden collapse of earth and debris from an adjacent slope buried the dwelling, trapping the occupants inside.

Rescue teams responded to the scene and recovered three bodies from the rubble. The victims were identified as a 60-year-old grandmother and her grandchildren, aged 5 and 6 years old.

The landslide represents one of several ground-stability incidents that have affected residential communities in Cebu during the rainy season. Local authorities have not yet released details regarding investigations into the immediate cause of the collapse or whether prior warnings had been issued for the area.
