SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is bringing its Piso Caravan program to Ilocos Sur, offering residents an opportunity to exchange unfit or mutilated Philippine currency for replacement banknotes or e-money options.

The mobile currency exchange service will operate on Thursday, October 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Barangay San Juan in Candon. The initiative aims to ensure residents have access to the central bank's currency replacement services without traveling to distant banking facilities.

The Piso Caravan accepts damaged, torn, faded, or otherwise defective Philippine banknotes that are no longer suitable for circulation. Participants can opt to receive new banknotes in exchange or convert their unfit currency into e-money for digital transactions.

The program forms part of the BSP's broader effort to maintain the integrity of the nation's currency supply while providing convenient services to provincial communities. Residents interested in exchanging currency are encouraged to bring their unfit banknotes to the designated venue during operating hours.
