Workers in Central Visayas are set to benefit from a wage increase that took effect on Wednesday, Oct. 14, under Wage Order No. ROVII-27. The Department of Labor and Employment approved the P42 daily wage adjustment to address the rising cost of living in the region.

Under the new wage order, Class A cities and municipalities in Central Visayas now have a daily minimum wage of P582, while Class B cities and municipalities see their minimum wage set at P542 per day. The adjustment applies to all covered workers in the region's private sector establishments.

The wage order was issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) for Region VII, which comprises the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor. The increase aims to help workers cope with inflation and improved living standards in the region.

The DOLE has instructed all employers in Central Visayas to comply with the new wage rates. Employers who fail to implement the adjustment face penalties and other administrative sanctions as prescribed by labor laws.
