Central Visayas workers to receive P42 daily wage increase from October

Private sector workers in Central Visayas will see their daily minimum wages rise by P42 starting October 14, the Department of Labor and Employment announced. The adjustment marks a substantial increase for the region's workforce across different employment classifications.

Under the new wage structure, Class A areas—typically covering major urban centers—will see daily minimum wages climb to P582 from the current P540. Class B areas will experience a corresponding increase to P542 from P500, providing relief to workers across both categories.

The wage adjustment comes as the government continues its efforts to address cost-of-living pressures faced by workers in the region. The Central Visayas region, which includes Cebu, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor, represents a significant employment hub in the Philippines with substantial private sector activity.

The implementation of the new wage rates will apply to all covered private sector establishments in the region unless otherwise exempted under labor regulations. Employers are expected to comply with the updated minimum wage provisions by the effective date.
