The government has assured stakeholders that it will fast-track infrastructure development at Mysuru Airport and establish new air routes to connect the city directly with major domestic and international destinations. The commitment comes following advocacy from Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar, who has been pressing for enhanced aviation connectivity to boost the city's economic growth and tourism potential.
Wadiyar has sought approval for four new air routes from Mysuru, aiming to reduce dependence on larger neighbouring airports and improve accessibility for residents and business travellers. The push for direct flights addresses longstanding connectivity challenges that have constrained the city's growth as a commercial and tourist hub.
The expansion project is expected to enhance Mysuru's position as a key aviation gateway in the region. Faster airport development would support the city's emerging status as a technology and business centre, while improved flight connectivity would strengthen its appeal to domestic and international travellers.
The timing of the government's commitment reflects growing recognition of aviation infrastructure as critical to regional economic development. With these initiatives, Mysuru aims to reduce travel times and operational costs for passengers and cargo operators, potentially spurring business activity and employment in the surrounding area.
