Centre disburses ₹36,754 crore under PLI schemes through June
The government has paid out over ₹36,754 crore in incentives to companies under its Production Linked Incentive schemes, which have generated substantial investment and manufacturing activity across 14 key sectors since their 2020 launch.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced on Friday that cumulative disbursements under the PLI schemes reached ₹36,754 crore as of June 30, 2026. The schemes, which were introduced in 2020 with an approved outlay of ₹1.91 lakh crore, have become a cornerstone of India's manufacturing ambitions across 14 strategic sectors.
The initiative has delivered measurable economic results. As per the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), beneficiary companies have made actual investments totalling ₹2.58 lakh crore, generating production and sales worth ₹23.79 lakh crore. Exports under the schemes have reached ₹15.53 lakh crore, underscoring the programmes' role in boosting India's global competitiveness.
Employment generation has been substantial, with the schemes creating over 14.57 lakh direct and indirect jobs. The pharmaceuticals sector emerged as a standout performer, recording cumulative sales exceeding ₹3.64 lakh crore under its dedicated PLI track.
The schemes were designed to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities, attract foreign and domestic investment, promote exports, generate employment opportunities, and reduce India's reliance on imports across critical sectors ranging from electronics to pharmaceuticals and automotive components.
