The Government of India has granted Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad an extended tenure in Andhra Pradesh until May 2027, marking his second consecutive six-month extension in the role. Prasad, a 1991-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, took charge of the position in February this year.
The decision to extend his tenure was made following a formal request from the Andhra Pradesh State government. The extension underscores the Centre's confidence in Prasad's administrative capabilities at a time when the State faces significant policy implementation challenges.
Sai Prasad's continuation as Chief Secretary provides administrative continuity in the State bureaucracy during a critical period of governance. As the apex administrative officer, the Chief Secretary oversees the implementation of State policies and coordinates between the Centre and State government on various administrative and developmental matters.
