CESC profit declines 2.2% to ₹438 crore in Q2 FY27

CESC Ltd, the Kolkata-based power and infrastructure utility under the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, posted consolidated net profit of ₹438 crore for the second quarter of fiscal 2026-27, representing a 2.2 per cent decrease from ₹448 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, according to a stock exchange filing released Thursday.

Despite the moderation in profitability, the company's total income expanded 6.3 per cent to ₹5,686 crore in the quarter ended September 30 from ₹5,351 crore in the year-ago period. The growth in revenues outpaced the decline in net profit, suggesting operating challenges or higher costs during the quarter.

The results reflect the company's continued presence as a significant player in India's power distribution and utility sector, serving the eastern region through its generation, transmission, and distribution operations. CESC maintains its status as one of the country's older and more established utility companies.
