Charges to be framed against Augustine brothers in Kerala timber case

A Kerala court is scheduled to frame charges against three brothers—Roji Augustine, Jose Kutty Augustine, and Anto Augustine—in connection with an illegal tree-felling and fraud case in Muttil on September 7.
The case was registered following a complaint filed by M.M. Aliyar, proprietor of Malabar Timber Industries in Karimugal, who alleged that the accused defrauded him in the sale of timber sourced from illegally felled trees. The alleged fraudulent transaction occurred in 2021.
The formal charge framing represents a significant development in the investigation, moving the case toward trial proceedings. The court's action follows completion of the preliminary inquiry phase in the matter.
