Chase's disciplinary bowling proves decisive as West Indies stun India in T20I

Roston Chase's controlled bowling performance in the middle overs proved to be the turning point in West Indies' successful pursuit of India's total in the second T20 International on Friday. The West Indian all-rounder returned impressive figures of 3/24, removing Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shivam Dube to arrest India's momentum after a strong start.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir characterized Chase's spell as "game-changing and match-winning" during the post-match press conference. Gambhir highlighted the bowler's tactical adjustments and variations as crucial to disrupting India's batting rhythm on the pitch at hand.

"The way he changed his lines was important on this wicket," Gambhir noted, emphasizing Chase's strategic approach of alternating between bowling at the batters' legs, going wide, and delivering full-length deliveries.

While acknowledging Chase's exceptional performance, Gambhir stressed that India must enhance its capability to defend substantial totals against dangerous opposition. "Against teams like West Indies, we need to find a way to defend totals," the coach said, underscoring the importance of maintaining line and length discipline to prevent opposition batters from settling into their innings.
