Chelsea advance in cup shootout without penalty training, says Maresca

Chelsea secured progression through a penalty shootout in their recent cup fixture, demonstrating composure when it mattered despite manager Enzo Maresca's decision to skip penalty training drills. Maresca, who took charge over the close season following Pep Guardiola's departure, has adopted a different tactical philosophy that prioritizes other aspects of preparation. The Blues' ability to convert from the spot suggests that alternative training methods or the quality of the squad's fundamentals proved sufficient for the decisive moment. The shootout victory comes as Maresca continues to implement his vision for the club during the early stages of his tenure. Chelsea's success in high-pressure situations without formal penalty practice could indicate confidence in the squad's mental resilience and individual technique under pressure.
