KUALA LUMPUR — Protect & Save The Children Malaysia (PS the Children) has backed the government's digital safeguards outlined in Budget 2027, recognizing the need for enhanced protections for minors in the online environment.

The child advocacy organisation welcomed the budgetary commitments aimed at addressing digital risks facing Malaysian children, including exposure to harmful content and online exploitation. However, PS the Children has emphasised the importance of transparent funding mechanisms to ensure resources are effectively deployed toward child safety programmes.

The group's position reflects broader concerns among child protection advocates regarding the adequacy and accountability of government spending on digital safety initiatives. Experts have consistently highlighted the growing prevalence of online threats to children across Southeast Asia, making legislative and budgetary responses increasingly critical.

As Malaysia continues to strengthen its digital governance framework, the advocacy group's endorsement signals civil society alignment with the government's policy direction while maintaining scrutiny over implementation and resource allocation. Budget 2027's digital safeguards are expected to support enforcement actions, awareness campaigns, and technological solutions to protect vulnerable youth online.
