Child killed, five injured in Isabela explosion
An 8-year-old boy died and five others were wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated in a remote village in Isabela on Sunday. The blast also injured the victim's elderly grandmother and three other minors.

A child fatality and multiple injuries were reported following an explosion in Sitio Raniag, Barangay Sinamar, in Roxas, Isabela on Sunday morning, authorities said.
The 8-year-old boy was killed in the blast, while five others sustained injuries. The wounded included an 85-year-old woman, identified as the victim's grandmother, as well as three other minors from the community.
Police investigations identified the explosive device as an alleged improvised explosive device, or IED. The circumstances surrounding the blast remained under investigation as authorities worked to determine how the device came to be in the residential area.
The incident marked the latest explosion-related casualty in the region, raising renewed concerns about unexploded ordnance and improvised devices in civilian areas. Authorities have urged residents to report any suspicious objects to local police immediately.
