Child's body recovered as search continues for two men in canal

The body of an eight-year-old boy has been recovered from the Galeru-Nagari canal in Andhra Pradesh, following a drowning incident in which two adult relatives were also swept away. The child, identified as Aarush, lost his balance while playing near Ramapuram village in Owk mandal and fell into the waterway. His father and uncle immediately entered the canal in an attempt to rescue him, but were themselves caught in the strong current.

The canal was carrying approximately 3,200 cusecs of water at the time of the incident, creating treacherous conditions that hampered rescue efforts. Local authorities launched an immediate search operation following the accident, which resulted in the recovery of the child's body. However, the search for the two men remained ongoing at the time of reporting.

The incident highlights the dangers posed by swollen waterways during periods of high water flow. Authorities have urged residents living near canals and water bodies to exercise caution, particularly children, and to avoid approaching such areas when water levels are elevated. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
