China has broken silence on mounting tensions at the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh, insisting it adheres strictly to agreed-upon protocols when conducting military patrols in the disputed region. A Chinese foreign ministry statement emphasized that Beijing's border patrol operations are carried out in full compliance with existing bilateral agreements governing frontier activities.
The Chinese response follows recent disclosures by Indian Border Security Force chief Shajrujeet Singh Kapoor, who highlighted how deviations in Chinese patrol methodologies have contributed to deteriorating conditions along the sensitive frontier. Indian officials have previously expressed concern over what they characterized as aggressive patrolling tactics that have disrupted the status quo in the border region.
The competing narratives underscore the ongoing dispute over patrol practices and territorial claims along the LAC. While India maintains that Chinese security forces have moved beyond agreed parameters, Beijing contends its actions remain within the bounds of established agreements between the two nations.
The exchange reflects the persistent friction between New Delhi and Beijing over border management protocols. Both nations have long grappled with maintaining stability along the disputed frontier, with disagreements over patrol routes and frequency regularly surfacing despite periodic diplomatic engagement aimed at de-escalation.
