China enforces exit restrictions on nationals over security concerns

China has activated fresh legislation targeting citizens who have engaged in activities overseas that authorities determine threaten national security or interests, with exit prohibitions now enforceable against returnees.

The regulations expand Beijing's authority to restrict movement of nationals deemed to have violated security protocols or engaged in harmful conduct while abroad. Officials can now impose departure bans on individuals identified as having committed such acts, effectively preventing them from leaving Chinese territory once they return.
