China marks founding anniversary with emphasis on people-centred ties

Ambassador Wei Huaxiang underscored the importance of people-centred cooperation in China-Sri Lanka relations while addressing a reception held on September 24 to mark the founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China.
The envoy characterised the people-first approach as the warmest underlying theme binding the two nations together, reflecting the depth of their historical and contemporary ties.
The reception brought together diplomats, government officials, and members of the business and cultural communities in Colombo to celebrate the occasion. The event provided an opportunity to reaffirm the shared values and mutual interests that define the longstanding partnership between China and Sri Lanka.
Ambassador Wei's remarks come as China seeks to strengthen its regional relationships through multilateral engagement and economic cooperation across South Asia.
