China mobilises mental health support for flood disaster rescuers

China has activated mental health support services to help rescue personnel cope with the psychological stress of managing a major flood disaster, underscoring growing recognition of the emotional demands placed on frontline workers during large-scale emergency operations.

Psychological aid teams have been deployed alongside rescue and relief personnel as flooding continues to impact affected regions. The initiative reflects efforts to safeguard the wellbeing of workers engaged in physically and emotionally demanding rescue operations.

As of September 3, a total of 726 personnel had been mobilised to support rescue and relief activities, according to official reports. The deployment includes both rescue workers and support staff involved in the disaster response.

The provision of mental health services during disaster operations has gained prominence across the region, with authorities increasingly recognising the importance of addressing trauma and stress experienced by emergency responders. The psychological support measures are expected to continue throughout the relief operation.
