China, Oman vow to deepen strategic partnership ties

President Xi told Sultan Haitham bin Tariq that expanding bilateral relations represents a "shared strategic choice" that serves the interests of both countries. The meeting underscored Beijing's commitment to strengthening ties with Gulf states as part of its broader regional diplomacy.

China has been actively cultivating relationships across the Middle East and Indian Ocean region, viewing strategic partnerships in these areas as crucial to its economic and geopolitical interests. Oman, positioned at the mouth of the Persian Gulf, holds particular significance for Beijing due to its geographic location and role as a regional diplomatic hub.

The two nations have previously cooperated on trade, investment, and infrastructure projects. Monday's discussions are expected to chart a course for deepening collaboration across multiple sectors, though specific details of their agenda were not immediately disclosed.

The meeting reflects Beijing's strategy of engaging Gulf Arab states through high-level diplomatic engagement. Such partnerships typically encompass economic cooperation, security coordination, and cultural exchanges, positioning China as a key player in regional affairs beyond its traditional sphere of influence.
