China probes Bo Xilai's former aide over graft allegations
Huang Qifan, who served as a top lieutenant to purged Chongqing Communist Party chief Bo Xilai, is under investigation for suspected violations of law and discipline, China's anti-corruption watchdog announced.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said Huang Qifan was being investigated for suspected serious violations of law and party discipline. Huang held senior positions in Chongqing during Bo Xilai's tenure as party chief from 2007 to 2012, serving as vice-mayor and later party secretary of the municipality.
Bo Xilai, once seen as a rising political star, was removed from power in 2012 and subsequently convicted of bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power. His downfall marked one of China's most significant political scandals in decades. Huang's investigation adds to the cascading cases linked to Bo's political machine.
The investigation into Huang represents part of the broader crackdown on corruption that has continued under President Xi Jinping's administration. Officials closely associated with fallen leaders often face heightened scrutiny as authorities seek to root out networks of graft and misconduct.
No further details were immediately provided regarding the nature of the allegations against Huang or the timeline of the investigation.
