China's PLA deviating from LAC patrol norms, India government says

India's Ministry of External Affairs has alleged that Chinese People's Liberation Army forces are deviating from customary patrolling behaviour along the disputed Line of Actual Control, signalling renewed concerns over border management protocols between the two nations.

The government's statement comes as tensions simmer along the frontier in Arunachal Pradesh, where Indian security forces maintain surveillance of cross-border activity. Officials said the divergence from established patterns has disrupted the relative stability maintained through existing agreements between New Delhi and Beijing.

The LAC, a de facto border spanning over 3,400 kilometres, has remained a flashpoint since deadly clashes in 2020. Both countries have since deployed enhanced security measures, though periodic incidents continue to test the fragile equilibrium along the mountainous frontier.

Meanwhile, controversy erupted after a video featuring remarks by an Indian paramilitary commander on the border situation in Arunachal Pradesh was withdrawn from public circulation following media reports. The incident has triggered fresh debate over transparency in government communications on border matters, with opposition parties accusing the administration of restricting public information on security developments.
