China's Xi signals potential further summits with Trump this year

Chinese President Xi Jinping has signaled openness to multiple high-level meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump before year's end, suggesting a continued thaw in diplomatic relations between the two major powers.

Following his return from the United States, Xi indicated that two further summits with Trump could materialise this year. The Chinese leader extended formal invitations to Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum scheduled for November in Shenzhen, underscoring Beijing's desire to maintain momentum in bilateral engagement.

Beyond the APEC summit, both leaders could potentially cross paths again in December at the Group of 20 summit to be held in the United States, providing additional opportunities for high-level dialogue.

The repeated diplomatic overtures suggest both nations may be seeking to sustain constructive engagement on key bilateral and regional issues. The planned summits would mark significant diplomatic engagement between the world's two largest economies amid ongoing trade and geopolitical tensions.
