Xi Jinping will travel to India on September 12-13 to participate in the bloc's annual summit, according to a statement from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted on social media. The visit comes as part of New Delhi's hosting of the major emerging economies gathering. The BRICS grouping brings together Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa to discuss global economic and political issues. This will be Xi's first visit to India since taking the Chinese presidency, underscoring the importance both nations place on bilateral engagement despite recent tensions along their shared border. The summit is expected to address global economic cooperation, development initiatives and regional security concerns among member states.
