China's Xi to visit US for summit talks with Trump

Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to arrive in Washington on September 23 for a three-day state visit at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, according to an announcement by China's Foreign Ministry on Monday.

The Chinese leader will hold summit-level talks with Trump during the visit, which comes as both nations seek to strengthen bilateral relations and address ongoing economic and geopolitical concerns.

According to reports, Trump is expected to extend a rare honour to Xi by greeting him personally at Joint Base Andrews upon his arrival, underscoring the significance both sides attach to the meeting.

The visit follows Trump's trip to Beijing in May, when the two presidents met to discuss ways of improving ties between Washington and Beijing. Their latest meeting aims to continue these efforts to stabilize relations between the two largest global economies at a time of considerable strategic competition.

The September visit will be Xi's first to the United States since Trump took office, and represents a significant moment in Sino-American diplomatic engagement.
