China's push to build homegrown AI chip alternatives to U.S. market leader Nvidia is facing mounting cost pressures, with leading domestic manufacturers now passing increases on to customers. Both Huawei and Cambricon have implemented price increases for their AI processors in recent weeks, reflecting the rising expense of high-bandwidth memory, a critical component in advanced chip production.

High-bandwidth memory, or HBM, is essential for AI processors that handle large language models and complex machine learning tasks.
