The white-bodied robot, named Tiangong Ultra, completed the sprint in a time that eclipsed Bolt's benchmark of 9.58 seconds, which the Jamaican athlete established in 2009. The achievement marks a significant milestone in humanoid robotics development and was recorded during competitions at the Beijing Robot Games.
Tiangong Ultra's performance demonstrates rapid advances in bipedal locomotion technology and motor control systems. The robot's ability to execute a high-speed sprint comparable to elite human athletes reflects years of engineering refinement in balance, propulsion, and movement coordination.
China has substantially increased investment in robotics research and development in recent years, positioning the sector as a strategic priority. The Beijing Robot Games serve as a platform to showcase progress in the field, attracting participation from research institutions and technology companies across the country.
The sprint record represents one of several benchmark achievements being pursued in humanoid robotics. Industry experts note that such competitions drive innovation by establishing measurable performance targets and encouraging development teams to push technical boundaries.
