Chinese judoka disqualified for biting incident at Asian Games

Tang Jing of China was disqualified from her quarter-final bout in the women's judo competition at the Asian Games on Thursday following an alleged biting incident involving Japan's Rin Maeda.

According to Japan's women's judo team coach, Maeda sustained bite marks on her arm during the match. The disqualification was issued for unsportsmanlike behaviour, bringing an end to Tang's participation in the tournament.

The incident marks a notable disciplinary action at the continental sporting event, where strict conduct standards are enforced to maintain the integrity of competition. Judo, governed by the International Judo Federation, has clear regulations prohibiting aggressive physical contact outside the rules of engagement.

Japan's Maeda was able to continue her participation in the tournament following the disqualification of her opponent. The case underscores ongoing efforts by sports organisations across the region to maintain fair play and athlete safety at major competitions.
