Chitale and Shah delivered an impressive performance on Friday to overcome Hong Kong's Doo Hoi Kem and Wong Chun Ting in the quarterfinals, winning 3-1 with set scores of 11-6, 13-15, 11-9, and 11-5. The victory secures India's maiden table tennis medal at the 2026 Asian Games.
The Indian duo's advancement to the last four marks a significant achievement for the country's table tennis programme. This is India's second mixed doubles medal at the Asian Games, following the bronze won by Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra at the Jakarta edition in 2018.
Chitale and Shah will now face China's formidable combination of Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin in the semifinals, scheduled for later in the day. The Chinese pair will present a stern challenge as the athletes bid to secure a place in the final and improve upon India's medal haul in the sport.
