Chittoor police bust copper wire theft racket, arrest four
Police in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district have arrested four individuals and recovered 280 kilograms of copper wire allegedly stolen from a factory near Kuppam. The suspects are accused of systematically selling the stolen material to scrap dealers across the region.

Investigators in Chittoor say they cracked the case after reviewing CCTV footage from the factory, which showed six individuals arriving on three two-wheelers at the time of the theft. Police have so far apprehended four suspects linked to the operation.
According to law enforcement, the accused systematically broke up the stolen copper wire into smaller quantities before disposing of it through scrap shops operating in Kuppam and neighbouring areas in Tamil Nadu. The fragmented sales approach appears designed to avoid drawing attention from authorities by avoiding large transactions at any single location.
The recovery of 280 kilograms represents a significant bust for the police, who say the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the remaining two individuals identified in the CCTV footage and to determine whether the theft syndicate was involved in similar incidents at other industrial units in the district.
