Civil Defence Force bolsters monsoon readiness with round-the-clock control centres

The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) is strengthening its operational readiness for the upcoming Northeast Monsoon season by deploying emergency control centres that will operate around the clock, officials announced in Kluang on Thursday.

The move reflects preparations to manage potential flooding, landslides, and other weather-related emergencies expected during the high-risk monsoon period. The APM has indicated that staffing and resource allocation will be enhanced to ensure rapid response capabilities across affected regions.

The civil defence agency's decision to maintain continuous operations at emergency control centres underscores the anticipated intensity of the Northeast Monsoon, which typically brings heavy rainfall and severe weather conditions to peninsular Malaysia and other parts of the country.

The round-the-clock deployment is part of a broader preparedness strategy involving coordination with other disaster management agencies and local authorities to minimise disruption and protect lives and property during the monsoon season.
