Civil servants face discipline for breaching Waze navigation app ban

The National Security Council (MKN) has reinforced warnings that civil servants who ignore a ban on using the Waze navigation application face disciplinary measures, according to MKN director-general Raja Nushirwan Zainal Abidin.

The alert comes as part of efforts to ensure government employees comply with a directive issued by the chief secretary. Raja Nushirwan stated that department heads will be responsible for overseeing adherence to the Waze restriction across their respective agencies.

The directive reflects broader security and operational concerns regarding the use of certain applications by government personnel. Officials have been instructed to seek alternative navigation solutions for official duties.

Department heads are expected to monitor staff compliance and take appropriate action against those who breach the directive. The enforcement mechanism signals the Malaysian government's commitment to implementing the ban across the civil service.
