COTABATO CITY – The Save Bangsamoro Movement has thrown its weight behind MILF chair Ahod "Al Haj Murad" Ebrahim for the position of chief minister of the Bangsamoro Parliament, marking a significant endorsement from civil society as the region prepares for its inaugural regularly-elected legislative body.
Datu Tokz Abudulrahman, convenor of the Save Bangsamoro Movement, confirmed the group conveyed its preference for Ebrahim through correspondence to the President. The endorsement reflects support from grassroots organizations invested in the Bangsamoro region's governance and development.
The backing comes as preparations advance for the transition to the first regular Bangsamoro parliament following the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law. The chief minister position represents the executive head of the autonomous region's government structure.
Ebrahim's tenure as MILF chair has positioned him as a central figure in the Moro independence movement and the broader peace process in Mindanao. The civil society endorsement adds to ongoing deliberations within political and community circles regarding leadership of the transitional Bangsamoro government.
