Civil society seeks criminal action over bulk voter deletion requests

Civil society organisations and Congress party representatives have called for police complaints against those responsible for filing bulk Form-7 applications seeking deletion of voter names from electoral registers. The demand follows patterns identified in previous fraud cases where unidentified individuals have submitted multiple deletion requests on behalf of voters without their knowledge or consent.

The Form-7, used to request deletion of names from voter rolls, has become the focus of electoral integrity concerns. Activists flagged instances where applications were filed by persons claiming to act on behalf of voters in instances where neither party was aware of the submission, potentially invalidating legitimate voters' electoral participation.

The call for formal investigations references the Aland voter fraud case, where similar tactics were deployed within the same polling booth. In that instance, suspicious Form-7 filings targeting multiple voters raised questions about coordinated efforts to manipulate electoral rolls ahead of voting.

The groups have urged election authorities and law enforcement to examine the circumstances surrounding the bulk applications, including who initiated the requests and what motivations may have been involved. Such deletions, if successful, would prevent eligible citizens from casting votes in future elections.
