MANILA — Civilian informants serve as a cornerstone in the government's battle against illegal drugs, according to Mark Anthony Santos, chairperson of the House committee on dangerous drugs and representative of Las Piñas.
Santos made the remarks following the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's distribution of P9.1 million in cash incentives to 28 informants who provided credible intelligence leading to successful anti-drug operations.
The lawmaker's comments highlight the government's strategy of leveraging public cooperation and intelligence-gathering to strengthen enforcement efforts against drug trafficking and distribution networks across the country.
The PDEA's incentive program aims to encourage more civilians to come forward with information about illegal drug activities in their communities, bolstering law enforcement capabilities in targeting drug syndicates and suppliers.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts by the administration to combat the country's persistent drug problem through multi-pronged approaches that combine police operations with community engagement and intelligence development.
