CJP defies police detentions, plans fresh Jantar Mantar protest
The Cockroach Janta Party vowed Saturday to maintain pressure on the Chief Election Commissioner to resign, announcing another demonstration at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar on Sunday despite police action against protesters.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) said it would intensify its campaign against alleged electoral roll irregularities, with national organisation in-charge Ajinkya Shinde announcing a fresh protest march scheduled for 10 am Sunday at Jantar Mantar. The announcement came after police detained activists and political leaders during Saturday's demonstrations in the capital.
Addressing reporters following the police action, Shinde said the party would not be deterred by detentions of key members. "The government believed we would retreat after today's action. This fear demonstrates we have already won half the battle," he said, characterising the police response as indicative of government anxiety over the movement.
The CJP has demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over what it alleges are irregularities in electoral rolls. Shinde said the party would persist with protests until that demand is met, calling on supporters to join Sunday's march despite the detentions.
Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police cautioned that the planned demonstration could result in traffic restrictions across central and New Delhi areas. The warning underscores the scale of disruption anticipated from the renewed protest activity.
