CJP leaders released after Delhi airport detention ahead of protest

Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were placed under preventive arrest following their detention by Delhi Police when their flight landed in the national capital. The three were subsequently produced before an executive magistrate at Delhi Cantt Police Station on Sunday, where they were ordered released.

The release came with conditions requiring the CJP leaders to refrain from breaching the peace for a period of one year, according to Ratna Singh, the party's legal affairs head. Singh confirmed the development in a post on social media platform X following the court appearance.

The detention was linked to planned participation in a protest scheduled for Jantar Mantar. According to police sources, preventive measures were invoked under Section 126 (security for keeping peace) and Section 170 (arrest to prevent commission of cognisable offences) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The incident reflects ongoing tension surrounding public demonstrations in the capital, with authorities deploying preventive detention powers to manage anticipated protests.
