CJP leaders released after week in custody with conditions

Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, prominent figures in the CJP, walked free following their appearance before the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) after spending a week in police custody. The magistrate granted them bail after they furnished personal bonds and sureties of ₹50,000 each, marking the end of their detention in a case that has drawn attention to protest rights in the capital.

As part of the bail conditions, both leaders agreed not to organize or participate in agitations at Jantar Mantar, the popular protest site in central Delhi. The restriction represents a significant condition imposed on their release, limiting their ability to conduct demonstrations at the historically significant venue.

The magistrate has scheduled a further hearing for October 23, at which both Das and Ranka are required to appear. The hearing will likely determine the next steps in their legal proceedings and any additional requirements they must satisfy during the bail period.

The case has focused attention on protest regulations in Delhi and the conditions under which demonstrations are permitted. The bail conditions suggest authorities are seeking to manage the frequency and location of public agitations in the city's central areas.
