Tensions flared outside the central Kolkata home of the senior TMC leader during late-night celebrations marking his birthday. Eyewitnesses reported heated confrontations between groups gathered at the site, though the exact sequence of events remained unclear in immediate aftermath.
Police personnel arrived at the location to restore order and disperse crowds. Authorities did not name specific political parties in connection with the altercation, stating only that they were investigating the circumstances that led to the clash.
Allegations suggest that workers affiliated with the Trinamool Congress were preparing celebratory arrangements when the incident occurred. Sources indicated that supporters of rival political formations may have been present in the vicinity, though these claims could not be independently verified.
The incident comes amid heightened political activity across West Bengal, where major parties maintain significant ground presence in the state capital. Law enforcement has not released an official statement detailing injuries or arrests related to the night's events.
Trinamool Congress representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the clash outside the residence of Banerjee, who holds the position of national general secretary of the party.
