The Izzatnagar police station in Bareilly launched a crackdown on illegal pharmaceutical operations being conducted via social media platforms. The investigation led to the arrest of the main accused, an individual with only class VIII education who had been posing as a qualified medical practitioner to market unlicensed herbal and ayurvedic potency-enhancing medicines.

During the operation, law enforcement officers apprehended the suspect along with an associate. Police recovered a substantial quantity of counterfeit medicines and ₹1.99 lakh in cash from the accused. The medicines were being manufactured and distributed without proper licenses or regulatory approval.

The racket primarily targeted customers through social media channels, exploiting the digital platform's reach to market the fraudulent products. Authorities have registered cases against the accused under relevant sections for operating an unlicensed pharmaceutical business and impersonating a medical professional. The investigation is ongoing to identify other members of the network and determine the extent of the illegal operations.
