CNG cylinder dismantling accident injures 12 in Madhya Pradesh

A fire sparked by a leaking CNG cylinder left twelve family members injured in Orchha, a town in Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday. Two of the injured were rushed to hospital in critical condition, officials said.

The incident occurred when Khalil, a scrap dealer, began dismantling a CNG cylinder he had recently acquired. During the dismantling process, gas leaked from the cylinder and ignited, causing a sudden fire that engulfed the area where the family was present.

First responders arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze, but not before the fire had caused significant injuries to those nearby. Of the twelve injured, emergency services prioritized treatment for the two critically hurt victims.

Local authorities have begun investigating the circumstances that led to the acquisition and dismantling of the cylinder. Officials have cautioned residents against attempting to dismantle or tamper with pressurized gas containers, as such actions pose extreme fire and explosion hazards.
