MANILA — Juliet Calvo, the former Maintenance Division chief of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region IV-B, will be returned to jail upon receiving medical clearance after her hospitalization for a stroke, the Sandiganbayan Sixth Division was informed on Tuesday.
Calvo is co-accused in a malversation case involving former Ako Bicol party-list Representative Zaldy Co. The court noted that her discharge from the hospital would proceed as soon as doctors determine she is medically fit.
The development came during a court proceeding where the status of Calvo's case was discussed. No additional details regarding the timeline for her expected return to detention or the nature of the malversation charges were immediately disclosed.
Calvo's hospitalization marks a significant development in the high-profile case, which has drawn attention due to Co's prominence in Philippine politics. The case remains under the jurisdiction of the anti-graft court's Sixth Division.
