The Commission on Audit (COA) has submitted 50 fraud audit reports concerning flood control projects to the Office of the Ombudsman, COA Chairperson Gamaliel A. Cordoba confirmed on Thursday.
Cordoba disclosed the information during the COA's budget hearing before the Senate committee on finance, where lawmakers sought updates on the agency's ongoing audit activities. Senator JV Ejercito, the committee's chairperson, had specifically requested an overview of the COA's progress on flood control project audits.
The submission of the reports to the Ombudsman indicates the COA's escalation of suspected irregularities in flood control initiatives to the anti-corruption agency for further investigation.
