Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi said Wednesday that the working relationship between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan within the coalition administration remains solid despite recent policy disagreements.
Zahid's statement comes in the wake of controversy surrounding the royal pardon granted to Najib Razak, which had sparked differing positions among coalition members on whether such clemency was appropriate.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that divergent stances on specific issues are natural within any multi-party government, but have not affected the broader functioning of the administration or cooperation between the two major political blocs.
The unity government, formed following the 2022 general election, has maintained its stability through various political challenges. Zahid's comments appear aimed at reassuring the public and coalition partners that the government remains cohesive and functional despite occasional differences in party positions.
